THE OLD CHEYENNE

"The Old Cheyenne" reference photograph was taken in 1930 by Edward S.Curtis. The Buffalo Bill Historical Center supplied me with a crystal-clear 300dpi tiff to work from. The only way to get the detail you see. My original pencil is 14.25 x 18.5". To throw a "clinker" into the mix, you are looking at something different from me, as far as what I produce my art on. Maybe some of you are familiar with this working surface. It is called "Claybord." It says that it is a "mineral-coated, pH neutral and acid-free surface." It is actually a 1/8" Masonite board coated with a porcelain-like super smooth surface. Is even much smoother than my usual "hot-press" illustration boards.

I also have a sugestion if you like a glass smooth surface (I do) its called YUPO watercolor paper! I started using this stuff and my work has never looked any better. Its actually like styrene plastic but as I mentioned, its like drawing on glass!
