Transcend

48 x 48 acrylic airbrush and brush on canvas. Wanting to do a koi painting with a more 'Zen/Surreal' style and influence, led me to paint this piece. It is the first of a series I am doing of surreal images of the koi swimming through a traditional 'dry' japanese garden. The patterns made in the gravel, and the stones traditionally represent islands in the oceans or the planets in space. The Koi, is continuing it's journey beyond.

This is beautiful. I love the combination of the still garden with moving fish in water. Peaceful.

Wonderfully imaginative, and authentic down to the Japanese Maple leaf tucked into the piece. Your work is serene and balanced. ZEN :)

Beautiful work and subdued color scheme. The juxtaposition of the sand garden and the fish is mysterious and evocative. Nice job.

This is almost sureal Terry, and I always thought Koi were very Zen like any way, but I must admit to really loving this.

I love this look. I can see someone taking that wooden rake and making those decorations ever so carefully not to disturb the water. Lovely painting.

this is really neat, i like the idea of the koi swimming in a rock garden, much better than anything else 'mystical or new age' and clever and crisp
