Carnival Triumph from my Balcony

Here are 2 more photos of the Carnival Triumph in distress taken with my camera from my balcony. If you look closely in the top one, you can see all the people on the top decks; hoards of them. The bottom photo shows our approach to the Triumph. In case you did not hear the story about the Triumph: Its engine caught fire on Sunday due to a leak in the oil line. It had no electricity; elevators unusable, all but less than 2 dozen toilets for over 4,000 people were unusable and backed up into the rooms, running down walls and soaking carpets, giving a terrible stench. The ship was listing which caused more sewage to go to one side of the ship. Food was in short supply with many having an onion sandwich one day or a wet tomato sub the next or just a bun when the hamburgers ran out on one day. A very terrible ordeal for passengers and crew. We got to her on Mon. afternoon just before 2, but were unable to get the 30 pallets of supplies over to her because of rough seas. (see Triumph Collage I posted.) We stayed with the Triumph until 7:30 Mon. night and then continued our cruise starting with Cozumel. The Triumph was towed by 3 tugs into Mobile, Alabama late on Thursday, Feb. 14. Happy Valentine's Day! I hope that you enjoy!

I will NOT suggest any poop deck remarks. I am sure they've all been thought of by now. Don Struke

What a terrible experience for those passengers. We never really know what life holds for us from one day until the next. I suppose that is a blessing or we would always be afraid. Sooo glad that you are safely back my friend.

Good stuff, Sharon!! But even though YOU think that they are mostly safe, ask those people who were stranded or the ones who were on the Carnival liner that was listing on it's side a couple of months ago...
