...forgotten people

i sat across from an elderly gentleman at the library and he smiled and looked at his watch several times...finally some one came up to him to pick him up apologizing for being late, and he said ' i thought you forgot me', and thus i knew i was sitting near my own reflection, someday.... Graphite on bristol... 12x15

EVERY TIME WE SEE AN OLD PERSON, WE ARE REMINDED OF OUR OWN FUTURE. WITH JUST AN IMAGE DID A PORTRAIT OF OUR SOCIETY. WE SEE THE OLD AS USELESS, AND THE OLD BECOME USELESS BECAUSE NO ONE USES THEM. IN THE OLD COUNTRIES AND SOME OTHER CULTURES, THE OLD ARE REVERED FOR WHAT THEY KNOW. THEY HAVE BEEN PLACES WE CANNOT NEVER GO AND WE ARE GOING PLACES THEY WILL NEVER REACH. WE HAVE SO MUCH IN COMMON.
