I arrived here in Lexington late Friday night, and on Saturday there were 2 concerts for 2 granddaughters. Ten year old Megan’s was at the University of Kentucky Saturday morning at 10:00 and Joanna’s 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM at Morehead State University (1 ½ hours away). Megan’s was with the string program at the University of Kentucky in the intermediate band; she played the violin and was 1st chair. In 2nd photo, she is on the left; girl in front with white blouse, black pants and boots. Thirteen year old Joanna played the clarinet and was 1st chair in the Tri State Middle School Top Honors Band. There were 6 bands that played with children who were chosen from West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky to play in the honor bands. Over 900 applied and 600 were chosen for 2 beginner bands, 3 intermediate bands and one Top Honors Band of which Joanna was chosen 1st chair. Joanna is the girl right in front in the black pants and light blouse in the top photo. Am I a proud grandma? You bet. I took these with my iPhone. I hope you enjoy!

Sharon, all of the comments here are well said and each one underscores the very rightful pride a loving grandmother should have, and you do. Much applause for Megan and Joanna and may it never wane as they pursue their ambitions and hopes. Well done, young ladies, well done!Caballero Salguero 25 Nov 2011

Super clear pictures Sharon. I know that you are as pleased as punch about your musically talented grandchildren. I used to play the violin in elementary school and in junior high school, and then I took up playing the clarinet throughout my high school years. Seeing these pictures of your granddaughters performing with their musical instruments brings back fond memories for me.John Cappello 21 Nov 2011
