wow... that's a big spider ! :)

Artist Reply: He was big; but pretty harmless. He reared up to show his aggression but he was more than happy to leave after I shot the photos. I liked the shots but I'm not out turning over rocks & logs looking for more! Thanks for commenting!

Very nice

Artist Reply: Thanks so much!

Beautiful!

Artist Reply: Thanks Karen. They are beautiful, even if they are also somewhat scary! But anything with this many legs is to scary to me!

They are so big, and fast! And they can jump! Great shot Marsha!

Artist Reply: Yes, they are. Had he jumped on me you wouldn't be seeing this photo because I would still be climbing down from the huge cedar tree in the yard! I appreciate you stopping by!

Artist Reply: Thanks; I appreciate it! EEEKKKKK was my first reaction also; then my photographer brain kicked in & yelled "get the shot" so I did!

eeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!! DOUBLE........ EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKK! SHOTS TOO GOOD, MARSHA.

Artist Reply: Thanks Sharon! I laughed out loud when I saw your comment; I loved it! It means I did a pretty good job of capturing what I set out to get. That makes me feel good! So I appreciate your comment!

I'm glad that this one isn't in my garden. Great shots!

Artist Reply: Thanks so much! He's not one I'd want to see every day!

wow..heard a lot about them but never seen one so far..seems as if walking around your place..

Artist Reply: We saw them a lot as children; not so many now. This was the first one I had seen in years. Thanks for stopping by!

great shots!

Artist Reply: Thanks a lot!

Very good shots. I would be running.

Artist Reply: Thanks! Don't be thinking I'm brave; if he'd made a move toward me I would've had a head start because I would've jumped at least twenty feet!

Yikes, he looks a bit scary. These are great shots of him though.

Artist Reply: Yeah, big & hairy spiders are scary. I don't know which freaked me out the most, this one or the black widow. Just by looks the tarantula is scarier but I think the fear factor was bigger on the black widow.

really don't like spiders, especially big ones, but great shots!

Artist Reply: Thanks Ruth; glad you liked it! Spiders still aren't my favorite critter but now I like taking photos of them. Weird since I used to be terrified to even see one!

Joanie Holliday 15 Jul 2011

Oh Marsha... YUCK !!!! mean oh me, I step on spiders.. May I never encounter a tarantula !!! Good shot though!!! Joanie Holliday

Artist Reply: I know Joanie, I used to be the same except I wanted someone else to squish them because I didn't want to get that close to them. Now I don't. This one crawled under some rocks & was gone. Thanks; glad you liked the shot!

Hate spiders! Where do you live? Glad we don't see them here, we have big ones too, but not ones that are that big, corn fed....lol.... Great capture!!

Artist Reply: Yeah, I used to scream AND run when I saw one. I hadn't seen one of these in a few years & this one was at my sister's house. We both live in Arkansas. Glad you liked pic even though not the subject!

Marvelous spider... isn't he :) on a beautiful background!

Artist Reply: I thought he was too. Even though I was afraid of him I was too fascinated to not get photos. He was just strolling across the driveway like he lived there. Hmmmm, he probably does now that I think about it. Thanks for comments!

Amy Yampanis 15 Jul 2011

YIKES!!! I HATE spiders!!! (though I do tend to take photos of ones that seem to be staying put... but then again we do not have any ones as big as tarantulas in my area....

Artist Reply: This one wasn't happy to see me! He kept rearing up on his back legs trying to intimidate me; it worked! But when you see something like this you just have to go for it!

marie-claire gallet 15 Jul 2011

Wonderful shot, but she should go to the barber, she has too much hair !!!!!!!

Artist Reply: Thanks! She looked pretty fierce; I was afraid to suggest anything!
