Tornado at Alma House

Yesterday I got news that a tornado hit my Alma, Arkansas house the night before (Thursday night). The damage to the house, I am told, is minimal, but the damage to the trees is devastating. I have lost 6-7 or more very large trees in the back yard. They hold the soil in to avoid erosion. The top photo is a tree on the back deck. The second photo is one in the back yard and you can see another tree, an ever green down behind the main tree in the photo. I do not know if the tree house that I have painted in 2 seasons has survived. I hope so. There is a tree that holds it up. I’ve been told that a tree fell on the neighbor’s fence and another on the roof of the other side of the house from the top view here. These photos were taken by Charlie Stapp with his cell phone. He & his family are feeding the cats and watching the house for me. As far as I know, the tornado only touched down here my house and a tree diagonally across the street was in the road. Apparently the tornado sirens went off in Alma and in Fort Smith, but to my knowledge what you see here and more at my house is all the damage from a tornado in this area. There were damaging and very high winds also and they might have done damage else where.

How awful Sharon. At least no one was hurt. And your house was not in Alabama. Good luck with the restorations.

Good to hear that your cats are fine and you are safe, Sharon. Its really sad that the trees fell. It happens over here during heavy storms and cyclones. Be well and take care!

God blessed you by only the minor damage to the house, and even though the loss of those beautiful trees is terrible, no one was injured, and your beautiful house is still standing! I am so sorry that happened Sharon.

Tornadoes scare the crap out of me (I don't like things I can't control). I was half terrified to open the link when I got my notice that you'd posted a new pic - I was terrified I'd see chasing one or something!! LOL! Glad you aren't chasing them, but sorry about the damage to your house!

Sharon, glad you're okay and damage was minimal to the house. Trees can be replaced, but you'll certainly have lots of firewood! Gives them a reason to have fallen- they have a purpose even in death.
