Well, The turkey is gone and it's time to gear up for Christmas. How many people will be creating holiday related art? I suppose I will try some. I'm still drawing almost every day. Some times, multiple pieces. It's fun and relaxing to spend my time here but I'll admit, it's starting to get to my lower back sitting too much. I may have to build a tall easel so I can stand when I draw.. Peace ~ JD

Thanksgiving is fast approaching and that means a day or two of rest. Looking forward to some good food and time with family. Also some time to create a few new art pieces to share. Black Friday is the BIG day to put your work out there and then it's a headlong dash to Christmas. If you are so inclined it's time to sell that artwork for the holiday rush!! Good Luck my friends!

It's been a long day today! I completed a commission for a friend and still managed to do some fun work just for me. I've also got a new website up now called: "Smokeymountainbear.club". I hope you can check it out when you get a chance. Good Nite!

Sunday morning getting ready for Church and then a trip to see Mom in Greer, SC. I made it to a Pop-Up Art show yesterday down the street. Met some wonderful people and great artists! I really like the concept of the Pop-Up! I hope to see more of that around here in Charlotte as time goes by...

Still busy drawing daily. Trying to figure out the best way to create digital files of this charcoal work. Scan or camera? Hmmm, the art world is sometimes hard to navigate!!

Made it back home from the mountains. Lost power that last night and had to hightail it home! It was a great trip and I may have to go back again next year! I have been busy drawing portraits of dogs and Elvis since I got back to Charlotte. I am looking forward to the day I can move up to the mountains for good and use that beautiful scenery to inspire my work each day.. Next trip I take will probably be to Florida, that will be a whole new place to be inspired! Peace ~ JD

Still on vacation here in Fontana NC. Doing lots of drawing including lots of bears. Got one more day then headed back to civilization. I think I will make this an annual event and consider it an art retreat.

Greetings! Long hard day at work, sun up to sun down. I've been listening to podcasts as I travel, about art marketing. Although I do not know much about the marketing aspect of the art business I suppose every artist must get a handle on it if they want to sell their work. Since I am still in the beginning stages of the business side of this strange new world I do not plan to start selling agressively until later next year. This way I've nearly a full year to get a handle on how to go about it. I'm still working out the kinks of how to make prints, frame, and ship what I create... If any of you artists who have already tread this path have any advice, I would love to have a mentor to guide me along.. Thanks for checking in! ~ Peace JD

I've been experimenting a bit today and using 3D paint to digitally enhance a few charcoal drawings I've done. I like the effect!
