Made it back home from the mountains. Lost power that last night and had to hightail it home! It was a great trip and I may have to go back again next year! I have been busy drawing portraits of dogs and Elvis since I got back to Charlotte. I am looking forward to the day I can move up to the mountains for good and use that beautiful scenery to inspire my work each day.. Next trip I take will probably be to Florida, that will be a whole new place to be inspired! Peace ~ JD

Still on vacation here in Fontana NC. Doing lots of drawing including lots of bears. Got one more day then headed back to civilization. I think I will make this an annual event and consider it an art retreat.

It's been a busy week here in my crazy world, however I'm officially on vacation today!! WOO HOO! I'll be taking off for the NC, mountains in a few hours for a week of relaxation, hiking, fishing and art! Looking forward to some great photography and drawing/sketching all week long. I also will be dabbling in water color for this first time this week. Wish me luck!

Greetings! Long hard day at work, sun up to sun down. I've been listening to podcasts as I travel, about art marketing. Although I do not know much about the marketing aspect of the art business I suppose every artist must get a handle on it if they want to sell their work. Since I am still in the beginning stages of the business side of this strange new world I do not plan to start selling agressively until later next year. This way I've nearly a full year to get a handle on how to go about it. I'm still working out the kinks of how to make prints, frame, and ship what I create... If any of you artists who have already tread this path have any advice, I would love to have a mentor to guide me along.. Thanks for checking in! ~ Peace JD

I've been experimenting a bit today and using 3D paint to digitally enhance a few charcoal drawings I've done. I like the effect!

Up early as usual. Getting some business done before time to head out for the day. I'm looking forward to the days ahead as we travel to Fontana, NC, later in the week. The fall colors will be on full display! From now on when I vacation it will be with the eyes of an artist, looking for every opportunity to draw or sketch something that catches those eyes... I have a travel kit ready to go! Peace ~ JD

Greetings!

I am new to this site but I really like it. A lot of great talent here! I started my art journey a couple of years ago. I have been working in charcoal lately but I also do some pencil work in both graphite and color. I have done quite a few acrylic paintings as well. As a budding, not so young artist I am passionate about creating something new for folks to see and enjoy. My focus is wildlife, including cats and dogs as pets. I also like anything to do with nature such as trees, landscapes, mountains, etc... I really seem to excel when it comes to birds and cats for some reason..
