This is a paper mache bowl (it still needs a coat of glossy varnish) which I made about a year ago and just painted. I love hand made items, and paper mache holds a particular fascination for me as a way to provide a ground for a painting which is a work of art in its own right. Anyway, I love thinking about all of the news and headlines which are tucked away inside the walls of these bowls, giving them a fascinating homely sense of history. This one measures 9.5" x 10" x 1.25" high and is made entirely of paper and wheat paste; the outer decoration is a small oil painting done in Winsor and Newton Alkyd Oil Colours; it is meant to bring to mind a natural scene, perhaps a sunset. The back is finished in gold and black paint, and is signed by me, the artist. It definitely may not hold food objects; I suppose it can hold one or two decorative objects, but it would hurt its feelings if it did, because it is intended as a painting which can sit up in a bowl stand. You can find it currently for sale in my etsy site; I'll plan on putting some paper mache for sale on artwanted if possible
