This is a Autumn scene I did of the edge of the far bank across from the little town of El Portal. It's a beautiful area, where my husband grew up most of his life. I love the ever changing Merced River that flows out of Yosemite National Park dorn the Seirra Mountains, Westward on through Merced, California. On my recent trip out house/land hunting, I went up and down all along the hills, and mountains in Mariposa County. I certainly got more hiking than I thought I would or could do. The natural beauty makes me forget about my aches and pains. I'm too busy exploring and discoverying all the different places and things to see. I know I will find a place to move to that will keep me moving, inspired and happy. A few years ago, I had to stay off my feet as much as possible. I am proud to say I managed a 4 mile hike on this trip. I never thought it possible to do that again. This area of the river had a lovely spot of Autumn colored leaves that backed up to the evergreen trees that go up into the Sierras. This is a few miles from a huge rock slide that blocked off this entrance to Yosemite Park for about 5 months. A temporary bridge had to be built for now. Folks living here and further up past the slide had to drive hours through the Park to get around to roads to get out. Most work in the Park or nearby support jobs. Some had to drive 4 hours one way to get to jobs not in the park, but blocked by the slide. Not fun for anyone. The slide is on the web if anyone is interested, Fergusion Slide is the name. It is being watched as new boulders still come down and may for years to come. Not moving to live under it's fall area, so not to worry for me. I used my Wacom tablet & pen (electronic canvas & pen/brush/etc- you chose the medium, brush size, colors, etc. and Painter IX.5 software to draw this pastel/chalk work. I love that I can draw and not cover myself with the pastels as I would with the real medium. This is not a computer manipulated photo, but a art software drawing. A wireless stylus- looks like a ink pen is held and you move it over the tablet that hooks up to the computer. I will have many photos and new works up soon, as I am back for a bit before traveling again.
