A detail in the previously uploaded image and similar to a digitally captured image I uploaded last year. Here is the famous Daikiretto, a knife-edged ridge of rock connecting Minami Dake and Kita Hotaka dake in the Kita Alps of Japan. It took us four and a half hours to cross it and we often had to climb up and down very steeply angled slops of rock with only the occasional iron spike to hang on to when there weren't enough natural grips available. We did this with our full backpacks on too. It was a nerve-wracking and sometimes harrowing experience but in retrospect I am pleased we did it and now that I know my enemy (so to speak) I feel less concerned about challenging that course again sometime.
