Self Portrait

Hi and thank you for viewing my work.

I've been working in stone for the last sixteen years, I use a variety of different colored slate and quartzite and add gemstones and crystals.

I like to exploit fissures and fractures and leave them visible to provide a natural, rugged look to the piece. This type of natural stone is a generous medium for an artist because it provides constant variety and direction. No two pieces of stone are exactly alike, either in appearance or in how they react to the hammer and chisel. The key to working it is flexibility. You have to have clear intentions but be prepared to accept something different when it presents itself. The result is always a truly unique item that cannot be replicated!

I have recently completed a detailed and illustrated, step by step, description of the innovative processes I have developed. These instructions are unpublished and are only available as part of a license to use my methods and designs. I'm interested in hearing from people who are attracted to my work and see the potential for similar items in their own location.

Full details are on the Business Opportunity pages of my website:-www.vaseguy.com.

I can also provide hands on training at my studio in western Canada. I'm also considering a working trip to Europe if I receive sufficient interest.

I can demonstrate a number of technical approaches that together provide a good understanding of my medium which I call Masonry Art. The training will include precise manufacturing procedures for the glass lined vases. In addition the techniques involved and their suitability for other products will be explored with special consideration given to any ideas of the license purchaser.
