Hello there, my name is Sandra Ryan, although I prefer to be called Sandy. I originate from Wigan a small Lancashire Town, where I grew up, and where my love for Art began.

My father first got me into drawing, since he was very good himself, he passed his talent down to me. I was smitten straight away and practiced whenever I could, sometimes getting extremely frustrated. I remember taking my completed work to my Mother( my most honest critique came from my Mum) and I was met with, Well its very good BUT!, and she would then proceed to pick out the pictures faults. I didnt realise it then, but that critique is what pushed me to do better, back then I would simply screw up the paper containing my picture which I had just spent endless hours on, (and so would my face), find the nearest bin, and start again. My Mother taught me how to colour my art, telling me to take my time, and complete it properly. I must make a small mention to my Grandma whom also played a part in my drawing lessons.

Unfortunately back then when I was a little girl, there wasnt the resources available today, and although my parents would have supported my decision to become an artist, opportunities where just not available to me, and after a short stint at Art college, I became disillusioned and let go of my Love.

In the meantime I have had a family, raised three beautiful boys, and a couple of years ago, while I was drawing with my boys, they all turned to me and said, "Mum your really good at this, you should do more", and I havent stopped since. Now I draw in Graphite, paint in Watercolours, and have started in Oils, Art is my passion, It is what I love to do, and each time I complete a painting, I feel like I have achieved something. I hope to continue on.

My youngest son is the same as myself and loves Art, and he says he would like to become an animator, he has my support, and also the support of Technology, which has changed so much since I was small, so I tell him, GO FOR IT.Much Love Sandy
