I was born in Bristol, England, and studied art from a young age. I specialised in Natural History Illustration at Bournemouth and Poole College of Art and Design before completing a degree at Sunderland University.

From my studio in Bristol I work primarily in oils and achieve a distinctive style by using a layered technique, deliberately pushing areas of the painting back and others forward giving the subject weight and a realistic impression of light. I have exhibited my work with the Wildlife Art Society and regularly sketch from live subject matter to keep my work fresh.
