Do Felt Tip Markers Count As A Serious Medium?

I have had that question bouncing around in my head since I first started using them again several weeks ago. I like them because they are so vibrant, and the myriad colors act as muses in and of themselves... ...nevermind the fact that it feels like warmly nostalgic return to my childhood.

But should they be considered as a possible medium by a serious artist?

Granted, this piece is mere whimsey...

Love the artwork and color, great action. I have seen some of the marker painting described in Artist Magazines. As long as they are permanent.

Nothing beats a good marker! I liked the prismacolor marker, just not their price. As long as it is water resistant and color -fast you are good to go. Nice horse illustration, very strong. Love that color green!

I'm all about using media that people think are "elementary". My thing... colored pencils. People think of school kids when they hear pencil crayons or markers, but hey - we are making great art with them, right? Keep it up, experiment with them... you are already making some great progress. Neat picture, I love the greens! :)

prismacolors rock, so do craypas, colored pencils and anything else one can use to create. IMO, it's all good.
