Guess it would have to be the sensuality of the keyboards for me, even tho I was brought up playing brass.

Bass Guitar, it's like thunder through my soul.

All instruments have an effect on me when I'm painting, even the human voice in song, and sometimes I find myself painting to the beat of the music (which makes me laugh when I realize it) but the first instrument I thought of is a 12 string acoustic guitar. In the summertime when I am painting on the porch I listen to lots of Kingston Trio, and Peter, Paul and Mary albums that my husband has. Their music greatly influences my work, especially the Beatniks. In my studio in the winter, it's the radio with lots of electric guitar(and Ozzy). I have never really compared my winter/summer paintings to see if there is a difference in their style or strokes by the influence of music I listen to. I almost can't paint without an instrument or instruments blaring. There is nothing like the sound of the 12 string acoustic guitar, which I think is the instrument with the greatest power of influence for my creative soul.

Not sure if I have a favorite insrument that influences me. I guess I would say guitar since I've played it 15 yrs, though.

I think the biggest influence on me have the piano, not keyboard, but real piano. I can play this instrument, it makes me calm and i can go and draw stg in a good way. I like to losten to somebody playing the piano, it is sometimes my inspiration, it can play as nearly all instruments. My favourite music i of course piano version of "My heart will go on". I listen to it and then my best aquarell paintings are made.

I got nothin' in the musical ability category, but nuttin' beats a solid rhythm section for me

I've been playing since age ten.30 some odd years now. This is who I am.Without music, well, whats the point.Which is why I don't do a whole lot of visual art,it takes all my time. The purest form of art is music. No other artform on this planet touches so many.It lifts your spirits, makes you happy,sad,mad...And as long as the Bass player stays away from me and behind me on stage when I'm playing...everything is cool...hehehehehehehehe.LOL Lucas!!!Can't imagine a world without music....So,Juan it would be guitar for me.But all instruments are cool, even a kazzoo....:)

It depends on my mood - sometimes I strum my guitar, sometimes it's piano - or I meditate and use my Tibetan Singing Bowls. Every instrument has a personality and can convey many different moods...

My klong yaw (Buddhist temple drum) and the didge really resonate my soul, though.

I'd love to be able to play an instrument, but like sean says, it's the time it takes to learn and will your visual art suffer. I listen to Mozart or Bach when I paint, words in music distract me when I'm concentrating. Classical is so clean, it lifts you easily into 'the zone'.
