Born in St. Augustine, Florida, I was raised in a state of perpetual motion: from childhood in a military family- hopping from station to station; to the cliché teenage-runaway years; and now on to my un-rooted adulthood. This lifestyle of transcience has had a remarkable influence on the development of my artistic processes. Through learned detachment from the sentimentality that develops towards the people, places, and things that surround us and recall time-specific memories, a transient observer is free to examine in greater detail the superfluous; the extraneous; the minutiae and the aura surrounding an event as opposed to the event itself.

Recent works have explored abstract microscopic cross-sections of anonymous organic origin and repetitious wallpaper-like patterns stripped of form and then recycled in contextually and spacially-ambiguous ways. I have also utilized semi- representational imagery (piles of dirty clothing, a bed, a boot) to recall the faint imprint of even the most obscure memories on our identities, the ripple of physical remnants surrounding foggy sexual encounters, or the undercurrent of unimportance that resonates through objects/environments at exactly the right moment when one needs to gain perspective. My intention is to challenge the viewer to sustain imaginative and meaningful internal dialogue that includes ones immediate environment, as the representation of all that is universal. The pieces are charged with questions of identity, both micro and macro, whether on an interpersonal or on a social scale.

I currently work and reside in Vancouver, Canada, where I am boycotting the actions and attitudes of my native country.

Recent works have included paintings in acrylic; mixed-media and collage on canvas, board and plexiglass; three-dimensional structures; audio compositions -manipulations.
