I am a portrait/figure painter and, as i am also a belly dancer, i love to paint dancers. I paint the passion, energy, colour and emotion that i feel while performing on stage and hope to convey this emotion to the audience.
My style is very much one that injects life into my pieces through my use of colour and brusthstrokes. My work uses bright colour to convey the vibrancy of the costumes, the lights, the jewellery and the passion of the performance as a whole and really gets the heart pumping, much like that of the dancer while she performs. My style of loose, flowing, confidant brushtrokes conveys the movement of the dancer and brings her to life on the canvas as she twists and turns and undulates from one movement to the next. My paintings have a real sense of life and passion and seeks to evoke those same feelings and emotion within all those who see my work.
Art is all about an individuals own experience of an artwork. Its about feeling and emotion, its about creating a conenction between the canvas and the viewer, about how an image can make you feel when you look at it. It can evoke ecstasy, passion, sadness, anger, calm, love and so on in much the same way that music can. It is truly sensual. Any artwork that can evoke such powerful emotion and connect with the viewer becomes an integral part of the viewer, an expression of how they feel with no requirement for words.
