Self Portrait

There is so much beauty in imperfection.

We are not blind to this idea, but our eyes are often diverted from it because we are taught to seek out and celebrate perfection. I do not always know how my ideas originate. Most are representations of the challenges we all face. I guess you could call them mental snapshots from my daily life that I have now committed to canvas. Those personal images that inform and inspire my work run the full range of human emotion, and human emotion is messy and difficult and ugly and beautiful and, yes, imperfect.

While some of my ideas have changed over the years, I have tried to continuously incorporate the style that I enjoy into each new approach. Naturally, art is subjective and not everyone will feel similar about certain styles, view the images in the same way, or have an emotional response to a specific works. I hope that some of my painting managed to catch your eye and that is why you are reading this. There is a level of happiness in hearing others find a connection to my paintings. And it does add a sense that these subliminal expressions of my chaotic mind are not shared in vain.
