Jean-Marie is an national award-winning portrait artist who has had a passion for drawing people since childhood. Her love and appreciation of the Old Masters has greatly influenced her painting. Jean-Marie believes that in every successful portrait there is a presence that radiates through the subject and affects the viewer in such a way as to strike the heart with emotion. "I strive to make the subject of the portrait come to life in a way that thrills and moves the viewer. My goal is to capture the personality as well as the outer appearance and to give the portrait, in a sense, a beating heart." Jean-Marie, works on commission and paints people and canines, primarily from photographs taken by the artist. She is a member of the Portrait Society of America and served as Ambassador for the State of Oregon for four years. She is also a member of Lake Area Artists, North Clackamas Art Guild and is an instructor at the Masters School of Art.
