A California Brown Ground Squirrel Baby that happens to be white. The Mother is a blonde version of the Brown Squirrel and the Father is a mottled brown and blonde coloration. These seem to be fairly rare as I could not find very much information about them. so it could be a variation off the blonde parents or a genetic mutant cell. There are four babies and they are not albino as you can see that they do not have pink eyes. There also seems to me, to be one or two regular brown variation babies in the litter. In the 15 years I have visited this area I have never seen any white versions of ground squirrel here.. about 2 years ago, I became aware of the blonde mother which I have photographed on occasion and now this spring I have discovered the white/off white babies from this blonde female.
