Commitment (cropped canvas)

One touching trait of the Common Gannet is their ritualistic greeting given to each other. Without fail, no matter how short or long the absence to search for food, it is performed every time one of them returns to the nest. Not only does this display involve sounds, the fencing and clacking of their beaks together, bowing, the raising of their heads, tails and feathers but also preening and the bearing of gifts of seaweed or sticks. Their silhouette when soaring makes an almost perfect cross. They spoke to me of great commitment as well as of God's love and Eternal faithfulness, and therefore, they inspired the artwork of 'Commitment.' "As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." (Joshua 24:15) Common Gannets: Transparent Watercolour 11” x 14”, 140 lb. Bockingford Cold Press Paper (Featured on Pg. F-98-Center Colour Folio in “The Treasure of His Company:A Collection of Devotional Poetry & Meditations Vol. 1” by Jan Howlett ©2005) www.hislambsonline.org

Artist Reply: Hi Lucia, Thanks so much for your kind words. I loved doing this one too and was inspired by the loyality that these birds exhibit.
