24 x 18" I knew a woman who was very sad that, in her mind, she had lost something inside as she had grown up [and, in her mind, "old"]. I can’t help but wonder why she associated good things – joy, fun, playfulness – with youth; I think that those things can and should be a part of life from start to finish, if at all possible. As I thought about our conversations, I came up with the idea for this painting.
