Artist Reply: But if she appeared at my door looking like that I would immediately think that my wife laced my cup of coffee with LSD.
I remember when she would come to visit us when my dad would have one of his many summers barbecue's.
This was back in the mid 1950's/early 60's and she would sit me on her lap and tell me that she would give me a penny for any one of my thoughts, but under one condition, they had to be funny thoughts and they would have to make her laugh. Whether it was funny to her or not, I will never know. One thing I knew is that she would give me a penny for everyone of my thoughts. I would proudly walk away with a full pocket of penny's. And for every penny in my pocket there also was a laugh from Auntie Martha with it...
