Sunset over Mountain and Moor

Original watercolour with a little ink. The sun is setting giving a colourful glow over the wild mountains and moorland. On mounting my picture I found it was a little short so I added the drystone wall. If I'd been photographing the scene think how long that would have taken! ;-)

Wonderful atmosphere with lovely colours, Mike.

Artist Reply: Thanks Anneke, I do like a bit of colour. Often I will do a number of backgrounds first, especially if I can't think of what to do. Wet on wet with some bright colours and just let it happen. Afterwards studying the result, perhaps rotating it and going through lots of photographic cuttings something will stand out. Then the picture really begins. It will not be a copy, the colours often differ and I may use only bits of the picture or more than one cutting. Really it's just getting to the point where I feel comfortable with what's right for that individual picture.
