Purple Iris

This is the update on the Iris sculpture. The photo does not show the true depth of the Iris. Stoneware clay and oil paint. The sculpture is permanently mounted in its frame 30.5” X 34”.

... you are now working within your true potential K... This oceanic wave explosive flower is proof of the process and the power. The composition was not accidental, the design, visual lineages and movement, stands strong... Look PMR, even the way you blended the hues of purple blues and the significance of the curved yellow-oranges make this a premeditated organic masterpiece* H

Artist Reply: Thank you Hector, for the great critique. The colors were so out of the box from my normal natural tones, I felt apprehensive as I painted such hues of purple. I very much enjoyed the sculpting, taking the clay to new limits of my more subdued bas-reliefs.
