BAR CODE

SHADOW BOX ZEBRA'S AT A WATER HOLE - AFRICA - NAMIBIA - ETOSHA-------Pictured here is one of the two Zebra species, known as the shadow box Zebra because of the secondary brown shadow next to the black stripe markings. They develop the shadow strip when reaching adult hood. The juveniles so not seem to have the shadow stripe as you can see by the smaller horse in front. The shadow stripe is visible on the rump of the more mature horse in back. At full adulthood almost all the black stripes will have a brown shadow stripe. Each Zebras stripe pattern is as unique as a fingerprint or bar code, and each and every one is different. Traveling in large herds at times they present a stunning contrast in the African landscape. A favorite prey of the larger cats such as Lions, Cheetahs and the occasional Leopard.
