Unibrow Alchemy

Frida Kahlo’s self-portrait entitled “Self Portrait with Thorn Necklace, Hummingbird and Unibrow” was created in 1940. Although her work is often classified as surrealism, she never considered herself a surrealist. “I paint my own reality,” she once said..... and I thougt how true it was. I paint because my reality probably different from what many see around themselves. My reality is something that helps me to express myself, something that celebrates MY OWN personality. The biggest fight we can have - it is fight with ourselves. It is the moments we think we dont want to be who we are - so we are heading to the search of our lives, where we desperately trying to fit on different masks, just to realise in the end that the real face we have was probably still the most fitting. So I thought, I had those moments too, I had a journey where I found out that I dont want any masks in my wardrobe. I am peaceful with what I am. I am grateful for what I am. I want to express it. And if it is about expressing a different or even (as believed in folklore) a witchy side of me - I am proud of that as well. I am celebrating the unique gift I recieved - my unibrow. This is my alchemy....
