©Delores J. Knowles 2008 -- Standing close to four feet high, the Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) is one of the most majestic of birds. Their diet is mosty fish but it will eat a variety of insects and even small animals. Usually very placid, this fellow was upset at a group of Ibises that were movining into his fishing area and he was loudly informing them of their encroachment. Photographed in Lake County, Florida.
