The Miller

This is a 16" by 20" painting I did some years back based on a photograph that I admired from an issue of National Geographic. The time just flew by as I painted it entirely in one evening, with quick drying acrylic paints. I recall that while painting this I had thought about my stepfather who was passed on and how he loved art so much and with kindness, greatly encouraged my artistic endeavors. I'd wished that he was still here with the family. The next day when I looked at my painting it dawned on me that without realizing it somehow I'd made the Miller's face look very much like my stepfather!

THis painting, clearly, is deeply felt. It has great edges, too. I like the way your paint AND the way you write.
