painting BIG...HUGE!

"trompe l' oeil" is a term referred to the illusion of a real object. This project was extraordinary in that it required both immense size and illusion. The composition took nearly two months to be approved, then it was transferred to canvas, and the painting began. Once it was close to being finished, I installed the huge canvas in one piece (normally an installer wants to cut it up for ease) and, using the crane, I refined and completed the entire art. The outer border was a wood moulding, handpainted in faux stone to give a more permanent feeling to the perimeter of the mural. This was a large undertaking but I believe it was successful. It is one of two large murals in an elegant Wine Bar and Restaurant. Many people view it daily, and that is a reward in itself.
