Saint Bride's Church, London

On our fourth day we returned to Ludgate Circus on Fleet Street to revisit Saint Bride's Church. Our previous visit was disappointing, in that all of the images we had captured "disappeared" from the cameras memory card. Historically, this church is built on a site that has housed a sacred monument for over two thousand years, before the Romans occupied the land, and before the Ingles and Saxons dominated. The original Saint Bride's Church was built in the sixth century and dedicated to Saint Bridget of Kildare, Ireland. The buildings, seven in all, were destroyed many times. The current building was completed in December 1957, which faithfully reproduces Wren's concept. The grounds also house Saint Bride's Printing Library and the Bridewell Theater. Image captured 09/18/2007.
