During the hot summer season, an enthusiastic
group of artists of the Academy for Lifelong
Learning (University of Delaware,
where I teach Art) are joining every Tuesday
for Plein Air gatherings either on each others
properties or at other interesting sites.
Our dear friend and artist colleague Ruth
Thompson opened her wonderful farm for
us and even hit the local Newspaper!
This "chick" (a rooster) got my attention, so I
photographed it and painted it at home.
I personally like the way it looks at you! (Kinda
angry!)

There's a Dutch children's song about chickens and a rooster:

Boer wat zeg je van mijn kippen?
I've always been mesmerized by "chicks and
roosters." I even have a breakfast china, which I
collected while living in the Netherlands and
Germany.

INFORMATION
I used a heavy gel to create a robust textured
background to show off the
brushwork and the soft feathers with a rich
palette of bold colors.
I think you agree that this Chick deserved this
gorgeous golden frame!
It's proudly hanging in my sunroom and
definitely is an eye cather!
It will be shown in my upcoming solo exhibit in 2
weeks!
Love and Light, OLGA
