You captured a feeling of the past, a wonderful view of the way it was in old towns across America. The talent to capture nostalgia, feelings in photographs that go beyond a basic representational shot is an art all in itself. You photographed sentiment so beautifully in the Card Room and Social Club. I love this piece reflecting icons of the past, a place where people would come together and play games that no longer hold their appeal in modern society. The simple pleasure of playing pinochile, darts and chess in a social club where you could choose your game based on what appeals to you emotionally and intellectually. What a range from games like darts that children can play to the keen intellect required of complex card games like Bridge. You have a fabulous eye for nostalgic places, views that bring us back to a simplier time and place. Your eye for detail makes this photograph very special and the fact that you perceive how important sentiment and social gathering is in our modern world when people don't take the time to play. This reminds me of my recent post of my photo Fangs of my dogs playing. I wrote a narrative about the importance of social play and how many adults have lost the joy of play, structured and unstructured as they grow up and attend to adult responsibilities losing the delight that we see in animals in various forms of play. I look forward to seeing more of your photographs Arnold. I once visited a town in Nevada that had many buildings of old west entertainment and live shows of the Old West. I was delighted feeling once again that I was the cowboy of my youth when I would strap on my guns and patrol my neighborhood as Paladin with my cards, "Have Gun Will Travel." Thanks for this fabulous photograph. You brought a big smile to my face remembering my childhood in the Old West. I have just added you to my artwatch.
