(Thought I'd share some photos from Nov. of 2004. If the Carbon River Rd. was there today we would more than likely see much the same scenery. We haven't actually been on a real hike since just before Christmas, just short ones close to home. So enjoy these photos, as I will.... reliving a good day in the woods.) As we travel along the Carbon River Trail to the glacier, we hike thru a few large rock falls. (Much of this trail is rock.) These can also be avalanche shoots in heavy snows, but we stay away when there is a danger. This mountain side always fascinates me because of the two cliff faces. They are interesting rock and they look like someone has taken 2 slices of the side. Fall and winter are the best times to see it this sight....when the trees are bare. The snow just makes it more beautiful!! (The first photo is taken after the second one as we hike across the base of the rockfall, but I like it better.) Thanks for visiting, more of this journey to come... Nov. 2004...
