This shot is taken in front of the great temple complex at Karnak. There were rows of sphinxes lining each side of the roadway which at one time extended for many miles to another important temple at Luxor. I am standing in front of the gateway to the temple looking back toward a mosque. It was so hot when we were there that we would leave for our sightseeing outings early enough so that we would be there right at sunrise. That way we could finish our visit in the cool of the morning and be back on the cruise ship before noon when it became incredibly hot. You can see the sphinxes casting long shadows from the rising sun.
