this was my very first painting exploring the potential of illusion using the single dimension of the rectangular canvas. Since then I have attempted to break those preconcieved boundaries of the flat rectangle/square that seems to dominate 90# of artwork produced on this planet. I think collectors expect us to produce art in this format now and have a difficult time considering options and new concepts in merging old methods and materials with new theories... expanding the painted surfaces into multi- dimensional and sculptural spaces. That is what excites me now and makes me push harder to this end.
