NEW ORLEANS and KATRINIA: faces under the waters

(C)2006 Elton Houck---"FACES UNDER THE WATERS" I need not explain the significance of this. The levees broke and the flood waters came...and the people were trapped in the torrent and succumbed to the raging water that carried them away, or entombed them in their homes. Many escaped and fled, but many chose not to leave, while others (mostly the poor and disenfranchised) were left to attend to themselves; these unfortunates were abandoned to the onslaught of the flooding surging waters that flowed over them and covered their bodies like an aqueous burial shroud...

This has a really acerbic, edgy quality to it, Elton...the jumble of creatures snagged together like some mass of tangled branches adrift on the water! Composition has shades of Picasso's Guernica...very disturbing, very excellent!!!
