Cerro Poincenot

I just got Edge of the Earth, Corner of the Sky by Art Wolfe in the mail today. It's an incredible book of landscape photography in the most sublime lighting situations. I recognized the several photographs of Cerro Fitz Roy and its neighbours in Argentina. Though I was pleased with some of the photographs I made there this year, the lighting in Art Wolfe's book is much better and more exciting. Here is my humble offering of Cerro Poincenot, a spire of granite just to the south side of Cerro Chalten o Fitz Roy. This photo was made shortly after sunrise.

I am in awe. As a painter, this is the kind of majestic imagery that inspires us to work large!!!!

It's still beautiful. The contrast between blue and gold is very striking. The colours are very rich.
