WE DON'T NEED NO STINKIN' BRUSHES (c) 2002 Elton Houck oil on canvas out of tube no brushes

(C) 2002 Elton Houck. 24" X 36" Museum- wrap stretch canvas. Oil painting without using brushes...all the paint was squeezed directly out ot the tube and on to the canvas, and it was not mixed about but remained where it fell guided by the artist's hand and eyes. Yje painting was ordered by a patron of mine in Washington, D.C. It took 4 womths in order for it to dry enough to ship. The photo shows the art work propped up on an underlying blank white canvas. That was the only way I could position this wet canvas to photgraph the work...the blue smug running off the paining is a slight touch of paint to the blank canvas it is sitting on. Warning to all artists, if you try this method, be ready for an exteneded drying period for the piece.

FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Artist Reply: Fantastic ordeal on this one! Oil does not always take 4 months to dry..but I did not use brushes to apply the oil..but made thick lines of it direct from the tube onto the canvas...I tried everything to speed up the drying becasue I had already sold the piece and the man was waiting for it as a present to his 'boyfriend.' Thanks for the advice but I will stick to brushes. I don't have the kind of patience to wait for this method to dry. The face looks familiar.

The face was the face of FRUSTRATION as I waited for it to dry...Seems that work was laughing at me for the method of my madness of application. Elton
