Angel

This was an "art is for sharing" project. I drew this for Mattt Skenandore. It took me almost two hours to draw. Actually there are many meanings. My original meaning was in short that "angels come in all shapes", but later it felt more like a parody on advertisment. Cause "advertisment tries to sell us everything as angels". But my explanation is based on my original idea. The reason I made it so dark was because I wanted it to be like expressionism. When I sketched the picture I was sure only these colors come in question. Also I tried to enhance the fact that everybody would imagine an angel to look different. So the colors confuse even more. The skin is white but she does not look innocent like her relatives. The grey shadow make her look used or old. Though her body obviously is fresh and young. Her upper body position kind of was based on a tiger attempting to jump. Clashing to the lower body which basicly is open and inviting. I underlined the fact that I chose the contrasts in purpose so I framed her by putting her into a spotlight. A made a picture of contrasts and confusion. It doesn´t give any answers. This is what I get when I wonder if there are actually angels out there. No answers. But what we cannot see, is her heart.

wonderful work. I am just overly impressed by the simplicity of the work capturing so many layers of expression. BRAVO!
