Inspired by my time in Spain, I painted this from a photo of a window display in Barcelona. Fashion was of ultimate importance to the Spaniards, and an amazingly popular passtime was shopping. I was struck by the amount of time and energy people put into fashion. Not only this, but there was so very little variety- I would recall the contrast with America, where you can really see any type of style or dress and not blink an eye. I grew to appreciate that less constrained feeling, and wanted to express the bizarre but totally incorporating trends I found in Spain. Oil, 5'x3.5'
