Black Eyes

Watercolor over gesso, on Ill. board. 15" x 10" ©Roger Trivinos 1987 When you're going to school you almost trie anything. I cover an unsuccessful Illustration with gesso. And while I was doing it I wanted to paint this Owl, So what I did is painted with gesso first living a feeling of dimension to it. After that I started painting it with watercolors. To my surprise the board didn't absorb the material but intend it gave it a different feeling. I star applying it to take advantage of the effect. And this is the result. You can see it in person at SoHoGallery at Pomona 281 South Pomona St. for the month of September.

Very, very nice! Love the expressive quality in this owl painting! And I like the subtle color pallette of browns with just a little blue....he's adorable!

Delightful... rather a mixed media piece, no? Results are wonderful!
