Nikanna's ship was one of the first that ex-General Erathyl captured after he took over the Wyse mining facility. The Skybourne, a nimblirusi ship bought and outfitted by Thomas Campton, was lured to Wyse and its crew captured by Erathyl and given synaptic inhibitors to turn them into Erathyl's guards and pirate crew that would capture more slaves for the mines. Nikanna was the only one aboard that was not turned into a mindless slave, and instead thrown into the mines with the rest of the prisoners, to work until she died. The youngest person on the moon, she continues to hold out hope that a rescue will arrive before Erathyl kills anyone, despite the harsh conditions and the fact that every day she has to look into the eyes of people she once knew and see nothing.
