Splashed Icicles

I went to Huang Shan in China in December because I wanted to photograph the famous mountains there with the first snow of the season. When I arrived, however, it was 17 degrees C. Not really snow weather. Two days later the temperature dropped. It didn't snow but small streams began to freeze and icicles began to form. This little collection was tricky to photograph because the rocks along the stream had iced over as well. Minolta 801si alpha, 85mm lens, Fujichrome Velvia, no filter, no colour manipulation. wowwow, the ices are tap dancing. I caught a great emotion.

Artist Reply: Tap dancing!!! You know, they could be. It kind of looks like a chorus line. Good imagination, Junji!

great composition well executed and well done

Artist Reply: The composition was difficult because I was standing on icy rocks and backed up against some stiff bare branches that were sticking me in the ribs. I couldn't more much for being impailed or sliding into the creek.
