We woke up at 4 am on a late November morning. Snow had fallen all afternoon and evening the day before. In a metre of powder, my group of five set out with only our head lamps to lead us through the fog and darkness, up to a ridge beside a mountain peak. The wind blew and the clouds stirred. It was about -5 degrees Centigrade, not too bad. The sun came up somewhere beyond the mountains, above the fog. At last the clouds lifted. The mountains came out and so did our cameras.
