With the rice paddies on the mountainside covered in snow, all details of the landscape are whited-out except for the bare limbs of these young trees. The photograph was made in Minakami Town, Gunma Prefecture, Japan. Minolta 801si alpha, 24-85mm lens, Fujichrome Velvia. Copyright Peter Skov.

I love this- it's one of those compositions where "less is actually more", a philosophy that one can see in Japanese culture, I think...it's like a zen ink painting where a meditative, "simple -seeming" brushing stroke of ink on pristine rice paper holds so much power in its depth.Peter Leahy 22 Jun 2005

So much intensity with minimal color, detail or subject matter. Fine, fine work here.Charlotte Ottilo 18 Jun 2005
