Early 1980 I began painting in earnest. As a result, most of my drawings for most of the decade were quick sketches for paintings. This drawing dates from May 1982 and it contains imagery that goes back close to a decade. For instance, one of my earlier drawings of a very young T. S. Eliot can be seen hanging from a wall in my cheapo efficiency apartment on Rio Grande where I lived toward the end of my enrollment at UT Austin. I recognize the wall paper. This drawing has held up very well, with little yellowing or fading. It measures 9.5 by 7.25 inches on good paper. Again, I probably used something like a cheap Bic pen. Yes, Original Jones Art continues to expose his younger self in northwest Austin, Texas.
