3 Brown Eggs, Antique Milk Bottle, Pewter Jug

I did two pastel paintings yesterday, this is the *second one.* I was so exhausted I almost left the studio before I started this painting but I really liked the setup and decided to stay and do a quick study and this is what happened with the session, which very short and intense. This painting is much better in person than the photo. My favorite pastel painting so far, I think, and what I am reaching for in the oils, a sort of contemporary realistic yet loose still life with pure color and light, a moment in time in color, form, light and shadow. Anyway, this is a very quick and immediate study. Done from the still life in studio in soft pastel on sanded Wallis pastel paper utilizing only natural Northern light from the skylights. It was a sunny day.
